About Korean Giant Asian Pear

The "Korean Giant" (also known as the Olympic pear) is a late-season variety prized for its massive, grapefruit-sized fruit with golden-brown, russeted skin. Its flesh is exceptionally crisp and juicy, delivering a rich, sugary sweetness that is often compared to butterscotch. Unlike many other pears, it boasts excellent storage capabilities, retaining its firm texture and flavor for months after its autumn harvest.

Flavor Profile

Compared to the mild, watery sweetness of standard varieties like Shinseiki or 20th Century, the Korean Giant offers a denser, crunchier texture and a much bolder, sugary flavor often distinguished by rich notes of butterscotch.

Uses

Its exceptional crispness and high sugar content make it superb for fresh eating and slicing into salads, while its firm flesh also holds up well in baking or serves as an effective natural tenderizer for meat marinades.
