About Shinko Asian Pear

It differs from popular varieties like Hosui and the 20th Century pear primarily through its high resistance to fire blight, a disease that often plagues other Asian pears. Additionally, the Shinko is known for its superior shelf life, capable of staying crisp for three to four months in cold storage.

While popular varieties like the 20th Century pear are prized for a delicate, watery mildness, the Shinko offers a richer, more robust sweetness that is often described as having distinct notes of butterscotch or spice.

Uses

The Shinko Asian pear is best enjoyed fresh out of hand or sliced into salads to showcase its signature crisp texture, though its rich, sweet flavor also makes it an excellent pairing for savory cheeses and charcuterie boards.
